Frequently Asked Questions
Do you scan artwork or photograph it?
Original artwork is professionally photographed using a high-resolution camera system in a controlled studio environment.
Photography allows us to capture the fine detail, surface texture, color relationships, and tonal information required for professional fine art reproduction. Scanning is often not suitable for original artwork because it may not accurately capture texture, surface qualities, or the characteristics that define the piece.
What artwork can you capture?
We capture a variety of two-dimensional original artwork, including:
- Paintings
- Drawings
- Photography
- Mixed-media artwork
- Illustration
- Other fine art originals
Each piece is evaluated individually because different materials and surfaces require different considerations during capture.
What do I receive after capture?
You receive a high-resolution digital master file prepared specifically for fine art reproduction.
This file can be used for:
- Fine art prints
- Limited editions
- Exhibition prints
- Publications
- Future reproduction needs
Can you capture textured or unusual artwork surfaces?
Yes. Different surfaces interact with light differently. Canvas, watercolor paper, acrylic, mixed media, and other materials require careful consideration during capture to accurately record texture, detail, and surface characteristics.
How large can artwork be for capture?
We capture a wide range of artwork sizes. Larger or specialty projects can be accommodated based on the artwork and project requirements. Contact us to discuss your specific piece.
